Co-forest: Beech
Connected conservation
A broader collaboration for lasting impact
We are delighted to have recently acquired an 80-acre site on the River Avon, two miles east of Bath, offering a rare opportunity to expand ancient woodland and create much-needed wet woodland habitat. This work will be delivered alongside Protect Earth, who are undertaking complementary restoration as part of a wider, coordinated project.

Broadleaf Woodland (~18 acres)
Our primary planting area which will follow in the footsteps of Co-Forest: Acorn, creating brand new mixed native broadleaf forestry. The southeast of this compartment lies less than 300m from the SSSI of Inwood, Warleigh.
Additionally, trees will be planted in field corners to connect up existing infield trees and enhance the scattered tree lines in the north and east of the compartment. Planting will be a mixture of broadleaf species noted to be growing well locally, along with a mix of woody shrub species to enhance the woodland structure and maximise valuable woodland-edge habitat.

The Nature Reserve
We will aim to increase water ingress into the existing ancient wet woodland site by creating features to hold water within the compartment such as ditches, hollows and ephemeral ponds.
This will make the compartment botanically interesting and much more suitable for a wide range of invertebrates, amphibians and wetland bird species. Willow scrub will be controlled within the meadow, while the eastern edge will transition naturally into willow scrub and wet woodland. The wet woodland will be largely non-intervention, with optional alder coppicing and willow pollarding to increase structural diversity.

So the question is…can you help?
Your contribution is vital to our mission. We are currently seeking financial support to deliver this project and invite organisations to adopt a quarter, half, or whole acre through a pledge. These pledges will directly fund the planting and long-term management of the Co-forest.

Empower your team
Name a plot at the site and bring your team to help plant it, with a one-off donation or support spread over 2–3 years—offering a hands-on way to engage your people while contributing to a meaningful, long-term environmental project.

Co-foresteer programme
Become a Co-forester by making smaller monthly contributions. You’ll be part of the project, helping to create new woodland while supporting its growth over time and sharing in the lasting impact.
Donating to Co-forest
